According to the release issued by the Raj Bhavan, the Honorary degree awarded to Justice Bobde was accepted by his son Shrinivas Bobde during the virtual event.
Bobde said he was demitting office after 21 years as judge and it has been his richest experience in the top court and the camaraderie with brother judges has been wonderful.
The court said that the Centre should proceed to make appointment immediately after the apex court collegium recommends the names.
The verdict came after a long legal battle on a plea in which the petitioner had submitted that the Great Indian Bustard is a large bird and finds it difficult to manoeuver easily in flight.

Karat was referring to remarks made during the hearing of a plea filed by a public servant, who is accused of repeatedly raping a girl, against the Bombay High Court February 5 order.
The 14-year-old girl, in her plea, has stated that she was raped by her cousin leading to an unwanted pregnancy. She approached the apex court seeking permission to terminate her 26-week pregnancy.

The bench said the committee had not been given powers to adjudicate and its role was only to hear the grievances of the parties impacted and report to the court.
The farmers have rejected the Supreme Court panel saying all the four members had backed the contentious laws.
